started reading kazuo ishiguro, my second jap writer. he is surprisingly brit in his writing. especially after haruki murakami it sounds strangely alien. i think i like haruki better. but then i'm only a few pages into kazuo.

I have read "A pale view of the hills" and "The remains of the day" and liked them both. Ishiguro (like Jhumpa Lahiri) writes with great precision and clarity.

I have read only one book of Murakami, but did not much like it. I found it rather pretentious and convoluted! :-)

Read Arunava Sinha's translation of Sankar's Jana Aronyo, The Middleman. I hope you don't have an anathema to Indian writers too. I doubt if K will read it so you can take it

knife, would love to borrow that one. no i don't have an anathema to indian writers. but khushwant singh and chetan bhagat did give me a bad itch for murder. maneesh, i love norwegian wood too and i have you to thank you for it. rada, what can i say except i really really love murakami.
